If you are considering changing your academic program at Nexford -- for example, moving from a certificate to a degree program, or switching between degree types -- you can do so without going through the full admissions process again. The first step is a conversation with your Success Advisor.
What to Consider Before Requesting a Change
Admission Requirements
Each program at Nexford has its own admission criteria. If you are moving to a different program -- particularly one at a higher academic level -- you may need to provide additional documentation to confirm your eligibility before the change can be approved.
Tuition Fees
Tuition varies by program. A program change will likely affect your monthly tuition rate. Review the costs for your intended program in advance, and if your studies are sponsored, discuss any changes with your sponsor before proceeding.
GPA
Your GPA is calculated within the program in which it was earned. If you change programs, you will start with a fresh GPA in the new program. Grades from your previous program will not carry over to your new GPA calculation. Speak with your Success Advisor to find out whether any courses you have already completed may count toward your new program's requirements.
Catalog Year
Program changes are governed by the catalog year in effect at the time the change is officially approved -- not the catalog year in which you originally enrolled. This may affect your program requirements, policies, and available specializations.
Program Fit
Before requesting a change, take time to reflect on whether the new program aligns with your career goals and academic interests. Your Success Advisor can help you think this through.
How to Request a Program Change
- Schedule a session with your Success Advisor. You do not need to reapply to the University. Book a session here.
- Discuss your plans. Use the session to explain your reasons for wanting to change, explore your eligibility for the new program, and understand any academic, financial, or timeline implications.
- Process the change. If you decide to proceed and meet the eligibility requirements, your Success Advisor will guide you through the steps to formally process the program change.
