Maintaining satisfactory academic progress (SAP) is a requirement for continuing your studies at Nexford University. This means meeting minimum standards for your Cumulative GPA (CGPA), course completion pace, and maximum time frame throughout your program.

Overall Program Requirements

Minimum Cumulative GPA (CGPA)

Program TypeMinimum CGPA
Graduate Programs (e.g., MBA, MSDA)3.0
Undergraduate Programs (e.g., AAS, BBA)2.0

Per-Course Grade Requirements

In addition to your overall CGPA, you must earn a passing grade in every course:

Course LevelMinimum Grade
Undergraduate coursesC (2.0)
Graduate coursesB (3.0)

Undergraduate learners enrolled in graduate-level courses must also achieve a minimum grade of B (3.0) in those courses.

Course Completion Pace

Your completion pace is calculated by dividing the number of credits you have successfully earned by the total number of credits you have attempted, including failed and withdrawn courses. Dropped courses are not counted toward pace.

The minimum pace required increases as you progress through your program:

Undergraduate Degree Programs

Credits AttemptedMinimum Completion Rate
0--5 credits0%
6--15 credits25%
16--20 credits33%
21--30 credits50%
31+ credits67%

Graduate Degree Programs

Credits AttemptedMinimum Completion Rate
0--3 credits0%
6--12 credits33%
13--18 credits50%
19+ credits67%

Maximum Time Frame

You must complete your program within 150% of its published length. Exceeding this limit results in academic dismissal regardless of your CGPA or pace.

What Happens If You Fall Below the Minimum Standards

Learners who do not meet SAP requirements are subject to an escalating series of academic sanctions:

  1. Academic Warning -- issued the first time you fall below the minimum threshold
  2. Academic Probation -- issued if SAP requirements are still not met the following term
  3. Academic Dismissal -- issued if SAP requirements remain unmet after the probation term

If you receive a warning or are placed on probation, your Success Advisor will work with you to develop a plan to get back on track.
