Nexford courses are designed to give you control over your study pace while keeping you on track toward completing your degree. This article explains how courses are structured, what the key deadlines are, and how to manage your progress effectively.
Note: This article reflects the policies in the current catalog. If you are enrolled under a previous catalog version, specific timelines may differ. Please refer to your applicable catalog or contact your Success Advisor for clarification.
Course Duration and Structure
Each Nexford course runs for 51 days (approximately seven weeks) from the official course start date, which is the 1st of the month. Courses are generally divided into six modules followed by a final project. The 51-day window is your active learning period. The remaining days within the two-month term are used for final grading and course wrap-up by faculty.
Flexible Pacing Within Your Course
You are not required to follow a rigid weekly schedule. Once you have completed the required activities for a module, you can move on to the next one -- which means you can progress faster than the suggested pace if your schedule allows.
If you prefer a steadier approach, that works too. What matters is that you complete all six modules and the final project before Day 51 and meet the key deadline milestones along the way.
Key Deadlines to Know
These are the standard deadlines that apply across most courses:
| Milestone | Deadline |
|---|---|
| Module 1 assignment | Day 10 |
| Module 2 | Day 17 |
| Module 3 | Day 24 |
| Module 4 | Day 31 |
| Module 5 | Day 38 |
| Module 6 | Day 45 |
| Final project | Day 51 |
Important: The Day 10 Module 1 deadline is a participation requirement, not just a suggested milestone. The late work submission policy does not apply to Module 1 assignments. Failing to submit Module 1 by Day 10 may result in administrative withdrawal from the course.
For the precise due dates of individual assignments, quizzes, and projects, always refer to the Assignments tab in your Canvas course navigation. Check course announcements regularly for any instructor updates or specific guidance.
Finishing Early
If you complete all course requirements before Day 51, you do not need to wait until the end of the term. Your final grade will be issued once all assignments are graded, and you can begin your next course on the 1st of the following month. Finishing a course in the first month of your term is one of the most effective ways to accelerate your progress through the program.
Need More Time?
If you are unable to complete your coursework by Day 51, you may be eligible to request a two-week extension. Extensions are not automatic and are subject to eligibility criteria. Contact your Success Advisor as early as possible if you think you may need one.
