Once you complete your current course and have paid the invoice for your upcoming term, you will gain preview access to your next scheduled course in Canvas. This gives you a head start before the course officially begins on the 1st of the following month.
What You Can Do During Preview
During the preview period, you can access and review Module 1 of your next course. Use this time to familiarize yourself with the course structure, review the materials, and begin thinking about the upcoming content and assignments.
Getting a head start on Module 1 during preview can help you manage your time more effectively once the course officially opens -- especially since the Module 1 assignment is due by Day 10 and the late work submission policy does not apply to it.
What You Cannot Do During Preview
- Submit course assignments
- Contact or access your course instructor
Assignment submission and instructor access are only available once the course officially begins on Day 1.
How Module Access Works Once Your Course Begins
Modules unlock sequentially as you progress through the course:
- Module 1 is available from Day 1
- Modules 2 through 5 unlock one at a time as you complete and submit the assignment for the prior module
- Module 6 follows the same sequential rule but has an additional requirement: it will not unlock until Day 11 at the earliest, regardless of how quickly you complete Modules 1 through 5
This means the fastest any learner can access Module 6 is Day 11, provided all prior modules have been completed and submitted. This structure ensures meaningful engagement with the course content across the full term rather than rushing through everything in the first week.
