Course Expectations

Modified on Tue, 27 Feb at 12:59 PM

There are many tools available to communicate inside and outside NXU. At NXU communication is important, welcomed, encouraged, and engaging. Learners should always feel comfortable reaching out to professors, teaching assistants, course facilitators, success advisors, or anyone else for help.

This establishes a foundation for effective communication both personally and professionally.

Communicate

  • Review the Home page of your courses to see important details regarding communication with your professors
  • Review Course Announcements daily to keep track of updates regarding your lessons and assignments
  • Professors use Virtual Office Hours to maintain regular and open communication with all learners. Use them!
  • Schedule a 1:1 appointment with your professor or teaching assistant (TA) to optimize your learning
  • Attend live scheduled sessions to take advantage of the opportunity to fill in some learning gaps
  • Use the Canvas Messaging feature to connect with your course professors

Participate

  • Log into the Course page in Canvas and submit an assignment on or before day 10.  All learners are required to show evidence of course participation by day 10 of every course. Failing to meet this requirement will result in program dismissal on participation grounds.
  • Post a course introduction and begin building your virtual community
  • Engage with the course-related content, videos, and podcasts
  • Submit assignments on time

Feedback and Response Time

  • Responses will be received from professors within 48 hours (Monday-Friday) and within 72 hours on Saturday and Sunday
  • All assignments other than the Final Project are graded within five days of submission
  • The Final Project assignment in each course is graded within three days of submission
  • Review your assignment feedback in Canvas
