Nexford uses a stacked credential model, meaning that credits you earn in one program can carry forward into a related program. You are not starting over when you level up -- your completed coursework contributes to your next credential wherever the programs share courses.
Note: This article reflects the policies in the current catalog. If you are enrolled under a previous catalog version, internal transfer credit rules may differ. Please refer to your applicable catalog or contact your Success Advisor for clarification.
How Stacking Works at Nexford
Stacking is made possible through Nexford's internal transfer credit policy. When you move from one program to another, any courses you have already completed that exist in your new program can be transferred in -- so you do not repeat work you have already done.
The confirmed stacking pathways are:
Undergraduate pathways
- Career Pathway certificates (Operations Management, Professional Sales) stack into the AAS and BBA
- AAS credits stack into the BBA where shared courses exist
- AAS in AI for Business (AASAIB) credits stack into the BS in AI for Business (BSAIB) where shared courses exist
Graduate pathways
- Credits completed in one master's program can transfer into another master's program where shared courses exist (e.g., from MBA to MBAE, or from MSDA to MSAI)
External Transfer Credits
In addition to internal stacking, Nexford accepts transfer credits from external institutions under specific conditions:
- Undergraduate transfer courses require a grade of C or higher
- Graduate transfer courses require a grade of B or higher and must have been completed within the last 10 years
- A maximum of 75% of required undergraduate credits may be transferred in
- A maximum of 60% of required graduate credits may be transferred in
- Capstone courses must always be completed at Nexford
Transfer credits appear on your transcript as "T" and do not factor into your Nexford GPA.
For full transfer credit details, see the Transfer Credits policy in the University Catalog.
